Gozo banks have very competitive interest rates and offer a number of schemes for Overseas buyers, where subject to status and age, up to 90% of the purchase price can be borrowed in Gozo.
In the UK, we use the services of regulated Independent Advisors, namely Frazer's Financial Services, based in Guildford and Walton on Thames in Surrey, who have many years experience in placing loans for European property purchase, secured against UK assets.

We will be pleased to recommend a Public Notary who will take care of all the legal requirements in connection with your purchase including : Property Land Registry Searches, Planning Searches and supplying any relevant documents to the local lending source, should you be having a Home Loan in Gozo.
Some things you should know about buying a property on one of the Maltese Islands -
- You can only own one property on the island of Gozo in your name.
- You must spend at least £60,000 for an apartment or a minimum of £95,000 for a house.
- A 10% deposit is payable on signing of the Preliminary Agreement.
- You will require an AIP, this is a permit issued by the Maltese Government, allowing you to purchase a property, and follows several basic checks being made into your background in the UK.
- Stamp Duty is 5% of the purchase price.
- Legal fees are up to 1% of the purchase price.
- Legal Searches and Registration are approx. £200.00
- Architect/Surveyor charges vary depending on the size of property.
- Most transactions take about 3 months to complete.
General points to bear in mind - If you wish to let your property to holidaymakers, you will need a private swimming pool in the case of a farmhouse or a well appointed communal pool in the case of an apartment. |
